Tips for the Perfect Cup of Coffee

If not Regular, which decaff should I order?

Decaff

Swiss-Water Process Decaff

Swiss-Water Process Decaff

Using a combination of water and Methylene Chloride, a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized solvent, the caffeine is extracted from the beans. This coffee is virtually caffeine free.

Using water only, caffeine and some flavor and aroma elements are drawn out of the coffee. The water is then filtered which extracts the caffeine, and then the flavor compounds are returned to the beans.

Twi-Lite

Twi-Lite

A blend of 1/2 regular coffee with 1/2 decaffeinated coffee.

I don't want a strong coffee.

Which grind do I select?

Coffee Grind Chart

Coffee Roasters offers numerous different coffee grind options for all of your coffee preparation methods.

When it comes to grind size, there are three important factors to take into account: contact time, extraction rate, and the flow rate of the water.

- The extraction rate of coffee grounds increases with a larger surface area.

- To increase the surface area, grind the coffee finer.

- The higher the extraction rate, the less contact time is needed.

- A finer grind reduces the flow rate of the water, increasing the contact time.

A Guide to Brewing the "Perfect Cup of Coffee"

  1. For perfect coffee strength, use one level measuring tablespoon of ground coffee for each 6 ounces of water.
  2. Use only clear, cold, fresh water.
  3. Water should pass through the coffee only once, hence the drip method with a paper filter brews the best coffee.
  4. Clean all parts of the coffee maker, especially the parts that come in contact with the coffee. Do this after each use. Accumulated residues of stale coffee can spoil the flavor.
  5. For maximum freshness, store unused coffee in an airtight container or glass jar. Keep it in your freezer.
